    Job Description

    What You’ll Be Doing:

    Senior level position that prepares and/or coordinates full estimates on large and complex work.  Provides conceptual and final estimating input on complex work throughout the preconstruction phase of CM/GC, DB and DBB projects (Construction Manager, General Contractor; Design Build; Design-Bid-Build).  May supervise junior staff members.  Position normally requires 7+ years of construction estimating. 

     

    Responsibilities

    Meets all minimum qualifications of Estimator I and II, in addition to the following:


    • Primarily autonomous in position

    • Work with business development and marketing department on site visits to gather information to propose on RFPs or estimates

    • Perform comparisons of scope, quantities and cost data between projects

    • Identify key issues / opportunities that impact project success

    • Support estimating functions including delegation of work, areas of responsibility, compiling estimates and preparation

    • Lead bidding process including solicitation, communication, proposals, evaluation and analysis

    • Coach and mentor other estimators

    • Very proficient at all estimating tools – Dashboard, tracking log, cost model, estimate, RFI logs, clarifications, etc

    • Assist with interviewing candidates for the Estimating Department

    • Assist in training other estimators in the MET preconstruction process

    • Keep current and up-to-date with computer software updates

    • Participate in company training programs and attend authorized external conferences or seminars as required to keep current in company and industry standards and operating procedures.

    • Perform any special assignments, additional projects, or other job-related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position as required by the executive team

     

    What we’re looking for:


    • 2-4 year college degree in relevant field such as Construction Management, Engineering, Architectural Design, and/or equivalent work experience

    • 7+ years of estimating experience

    • Strong working knowledge of computers, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet resources

    • Advanced experience with Estimation Software required

    • Experience on industrial projects.
    • Demonstrate commitment to deliver outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
    • Demonstrate advanced level knowledge of construction methods and construction contracts
    • Ability to be strategic, think critically and analytically
    • Demonstrate mature judgement in anticipating and solving problems
    • Strong organizations skills; able to manage multiple responsibilities and utilize time effectively to meet deadlines
    • Strong planning, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Advanced knowledge of assigned subject area, estimating techniques, cost control and ability to interpret computerized cost data.
    • Thorough knowledge of estimating processes, material and building costs, and labor productivity evaluation.
    • Works well as part of a team and on self-managed projects with little or no supervision
    • Willing to take direction and feedback in a positive and professional manner
    • Attention to detail and meticulous follow through
    • Individual with a professional demeanor that seeks excellence in job performance
    • Ability to travel to various construction sites
