Southlake, Texas is the proud home of Southlake Chamber of Commerce. This vibrant and family-centered community is located just minutes from DFW airport, downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth. From its award winning school districts to its thriving business community, Southlake is a place where people come together to work, play, live and just enjoy.
Southlake was incorporated in 1956. Since that time the City’s look has changed, but its small town charm and character remain firmly intact. Since the late 60s, Southlake community leaders have worked together to create a place where families can live and businesses can thrive.
Southlake Town Square, the City’s downtown corridor, was built in 1999. The 130-acre Square boasts a unique mix of retail shopping, office, restaurant, residential, and governmental uses. Its four big events, including the Southlake Chamber’s Oktoberfest, and dozens of smaller ones, fill the square’s parks with fun activities that attract people from miles around. All of this can be found in a pedestrian-friendly environment that invites people to stay awhile.
The City of Southlake is led by the seven members of the Southlake City Council. The Council is made up of the Mayor and six at-large council members. Its four, award-winning Independent School Districts are: Carroll, Grapevine-Colleyville, Keller and Northwest ISD. Carroll ISD, which came into being in 1959, educates the majority of Southlake’s public students and recently opened its doors to Southlake students who are zoned for other districts.
There are many reasons why more than 27,000 people and more than 1500 businesses call Southlake home. It could be the more than 1200 acres of natural park land, the two “AAA” ratings (Standard & Poor’s and Fitch) or that Southlake is home to some of the best locally owned businesses in all of North Texas. It could be that on just 22.4 square miles of land you can find rich history at Bob Jones Nature Center, several corporate headquarters for multi-million dollar companies, state of the art medical care, a university, and the friendliest people around.
